FAQ

Transfer my domain

To transfer your domain, you’ll want to follow these three steps:

Step 1

Log in to your account or contact your current Domain Provider to do the following:

  1. Obtain your Auth code
  2. Unlock your domain
  3. Disable domain privacy or Whois privacy
  4. Verify that you have access to the admin email address associated with the domain.

Step 2

Contact your new Domain Provider and have them initiate the transfer. Make sure you have your Auth code handy, in case they require it.

Step 3

Next, you must provide confirmation of the transfer. As soon as the transfer is in progress you will receive an authorization email from your new Domain Provider. When you receive this email, you must enter the auth code.

Sometimes your old Domain Provider will send a confirmation email. If they do, simply follow the steps outlined in the email to confirm the transfer.

Please note the following:

Transfers can take up to 7 days.

You cannot transfer a domain that has existed for less than 60 days, with the exception of certain ccTLDs.
